As of July 2019, our little fam made the big move from Toronto, Canada to Malibu, California. To say it has been a lifestyle overhaul is an understatement. We traded in the noisy city streets of Canada's largest city for the peaceful mountains, starlit sky and bountiful beaches of Southern California. As we dive into our new life here, we've been having fun playing tourist around our new town. Below are a few highlights for anyone visiting the area (or just curious about where to go and what to do when and if you do plan a visit in the future).
BEACHES WE LOVE
Malibu is a 21 mile stretch of beautiful coastline. These are some of our favorite local stretches of sand: Broad Beach, Leo Carrillo State Park, Little Dume, Westward Beach
BEACH EATS
For sand-in-the-toes dining we like the kitschy but fun Paradise Cove.
And for sundowners and happy hour be sure to try The Sunset.
HIKES
There are so many places to soak up the natural beauty of Malibu but these hikes are the perfect place to start. For a sweat: Solstice Canyon, Winding Way, Zuma Ridge. For the views: Malibu Bluffs, Point Dume Nature Preserve
SEAFOOD
For casual sit-down service try the Broad Street Oyster Co
And for takeout or picnic table fare we love Malibu Seafood and Neptune's Net
PLAYGROUNDS
Nothing beats Trancas Canyon Park for views or play value.
Our boys also go nuts for The Playground at The Park at Cross Creek as well as the play structures in the central courtyard of The Malibu Countrymart
SNACK TIME
For smoothies and bowls we can't get enough of Sunlife Organics (they have two amazing locations in Malibu). For on-the-go kid fare, A & A love the burritos at Lily's
